DrumVerse R8

The Roland R-8 was a late 80s drum machine that combined high-quality 16-bit samples with deep sound-editing options and human-like grooves, earning its place as a studio staple of the early 90s. It featured a large, expandable library of sounds, including some of the best TR-808 and TR-909 samples, and was used on albums like Aphex Twin's "Selected Ambient Works 85-92", The Cure's "Disintegration", and Prince's "Diamonds and Pearls".

The DrumVerse R8 Sample Pack captures the full character of the R-8, featuring all 67 factory sounds, 26 copy instruments, and 286 samples from all 11 expansion cards. An additional 149 samples were created by adjusting tuning and decay, all recorded through a Rupert Neve Designs Shelford Channel for added warmth. Sounds are neatly labeled for easy browsing in any DAW.

The Ableton Live Pack takes it further, offering Instrument and Drum Racks that emulate the R-8’s unique sample layering and Nuance control, allowing for repitching and humanized drum tracks. It includes 50 Drum Racks with recreated factory kits from the R-8 and R-8M, along with custom kits inspired by classic records.
