Halogen FM is GForce's first original instrument: a two-operator FM synth for Mac and PC that builds a new patch at the press of a button, then lets you steer it with five macro knobs. It's for anyone who likes the sound of FM but has never fancied programming it.
FM has always had a reputation for being hard work. Algorithms, operator ratios and envelope levels that don't behave like anything on a subtractive synth. GForce's answer is to hide most of that until you want it. You get the glassy bells, metallic plucks and hollow, reedy tones FM is good at, without a manual open on the other screen.

The Spark Core
Hit the global Spark button and Halogen generates a fresh patch from scratch. Each section can also be randomised on its own, so you can keep an envelope you like and roll the dice on the timbre. It's a generative approach rather than a preset browser with a random button bolted on, and happy accidents are very much the point.
Five Macros That Make Sense
Timbre goes from soft on the left to bold and aggressive on the right. Modulation runs from refined to unpredictable. The two envelope macros, one per oscillator, turn a plucked, percussive sound into a slow pad as you move them right. FX sets how much space goes round it. Five knobs is enough to get a long way from where Spark started you.
Full Access When You Want It
Underneath the macros, both operators have identical, fully editable parameters, so there's somewhere to go once you start to understand what's happening. GForce says the design was inspired by a hidden gem of Japanese FM synthesis, and there are over 320 presets to start from.
Who It's For
Producers who want FM colour in a track without learning a DX7 from first principles, and sound designers who like to work by ear. If you already live inside deep six-operator FM synths, this is a sketchpad rather than a replacement.
