McDSP FutzVerb takes the device modelling and distortion from FutzBox and adds a reverb, a sub octave generator and a lot of places to put the lo-fi effects. It's for sound designers and producers who want degraded, characterful space rather than a clean hall.
How it works
FutzBox's Synthetic Impulse Models (SIMs) can go before the reverb, after it or inside the reverb tank itself. The sub octave generator adds pitched-down layers that stay in time with the original. The reverb engine offers several types and reflection models with pre-delay, modulation, damping and stereo width, plus gating and ducking.
The sound
Anything from a small speaker in a big room to a distorted, octave-down wash. It's great for trailer and game sound design, and for putting a vocal or synth somewhere that sounds lived-in rather than polished.
Native only
FutzVerb is a Native plug-in: it runs on your computer in AAX Native, AU and VST3. There's no AAX DSP version for Pro Tools HDX.
