Playfair Audio - Body

Body is a free one-knob dynamics plugin from Playfair Audio that adds weight and presence to tracks, buses and stems. It runs on the same engine as Dynamic Grading, cut down to a body control and a gain control, so it's ideal when you want a vocal or a drum bus to sit up and fill out without dialling in a compressor.

Why only the body?

Most dynamics processors work above or below a threshold. Body works on the middle of a signal's dynamic range, where most of the musical information sits. Source Learn finds that range for you, then you sweep the knob to taste and use the gain control to match levels.

Body or Dynamic Grading?

Body is the quick version of the idea. Dynamic Grading 2 is the full toolbox, with separate control of punch, body and floor, deeper metering and multichannel support. Body is a good, free way to find out whether the approach suits how you mix.
