Verberate 2 is Acon Digital's algorithmic reverb plugin for Mac and Windows, built to sound like a real space rather than an effect laid on top. It was nominated for a NAMM TEC Award, and it's one of the more natural-sounding algorithmic reverbs at this price.
Vivid Hall
The headline algorithm is time-variant: the reverb structure shifts slightly as it decays, the way a real room does. That's what stops the tail ringing on long piano notes and pads, the metallic sheen that gives cheaper reverbs away. The tail stays dense without going grainy. The original Legacy Hall is still included.
Reflections and tail separately
Early reflections and the tail have their own processors. There are 15 early reflection patterns, so you can set the size and character of the room with the reflections, then shape the decay independently. It's true stereo, and the reflections are designed to blend in without the comb filtering that makes some reverbs sound phasey in mono.
Character options
Dispersion models the way a mechanical plate smears high frequencies, and Swirl adds the slow, cloudy modulation of 80s digital units. Between them you can get from a clean concert hall to something lusher for vocals and synth pads.
