Audiomodern - Chordjam

Chordjam is Audiomodern's chord and progression generator plugin for Mac and Windows: it builds voiced chords and evolving patterns through guided randomisation and sends the MIDI to any synth, for producers who know what mood they want but not which chords get them there.

Randomisation you can steer

Chordjam doesn't throw random notes at you. You set the ranges for transposition, time delay, velocity and sequence length, and its voicing engine picks chords within those limits. Trigger mode can roll a new chord on every note you play, which turns a single key into a source of ideas, while the pads section and quick-load presets keep things playable. Version 1.5 added MPE support, polyphonic portamento for gliding chords, a new preset manager and expansion pack support.

How it sounds in a track

Put it in front of a warm pad or an electric piano and the voicings come out spread and musical rather than stacked root-position triads, with the time-delay setting strumming notes slightly apart so it feels played. The sequencer and groove generator turn those chords into rhythmic stabs or slow-moving progressions, and shuffle and shift keep a loop from repeating exactly. Push the ranges wide and it gets jazzy and unpredictable; keep them narrow for something that sits under a vocal.

Getting ideas out

Drag a single chord or a whole pattern into your DAW as MIDI, or route Chordjam's output to hardware. Everything stays locked to host tempo, and you can save your own patterns for later.

Who it's for

Producers and songwriters who get stuck on harmony, and anyone who likes to start a track from a chord loop. It won't teach you theory or label what it plays in detail, so if you want a chord dictionary, look elsewhere. As an idea engine it earns its slot.
