Audiomodern - Soundbox Voxmotive 2

Voxmotive 2 is an Audiomodern Soundbox library of female vocal phrases, vocal pads and spoken word for Mac and Windows, for composers and producers working in ambient, new age and cinematic styles. It loads into Soundbox, Audiomodern's free MPE sampler.

Runs in Soundbox

Soundbox is free from Audiomodern and Voxmotive 2 is a library for it. The phrase presets mostly use a single layer, while the pad presets use Soundbox's ability to stack four layers with separate effects and blend them on the vector pad. Buying Voxmotive 2 also unlocks Soundbox's mapping and sample editors.

What's in it

1.16 GB of audio across 41 unlocked presets. The phrases are organised into 31 categories, each labelled by key so you can find something that fits your track quickly. There are also five drone and pad categories built from layered vocals, and three spoken word categories. Four vocalists feature, and the phrases are wordless.

How it sounds

Lighter and more whimsical than the first Voxmotive, with less of the world music flavour and more soprano air. Processing is restrained, usually a touch of reverb, so the voices sit naturally in a mix and take your own effects well. All the phrases are in minor keys, though Soundbox transposes them easily. A single phrase over a slow pad is often enough to carry an intro.

Who it's for

Ambient, new age and media composers who want emotive vocal colour without lyrics. Sound On Sound gave it five stars and called it a bargain. If you already have Voxmotive, this is new material in a gentler mood, not a replacement.
