SynthMaster One is KV331 Audio's wavetable synth for Mac and Windows, built around a one-page layout that makes sound design quick. It shares its engine with the bigger SynthMaster synths but keeps the workflow simple, which makes it a good first serious synth and a fast tool for trance, synthwave and EDM leads.

Oscillators and wavetables

Two stereo oscillators, each with its own sub oscillator, run up to 16 voices of unison with detune, pan and phase spread, so big supersaw stacks are easy. Each oscillator has 17 algorithms for bending, syncing and filtering its waveform. Wavetable synthesis is built in, with a library that includes wavetables from BT, and you can drag in your own.

Filters, modulation and effects

The zero delay feedback filters cover ladder, diode ladder, state variable and bite types, with drive and acid controls when you want more bite. Modulation comes from four ADSR envelopes, two of which can use the Profat and Oobee shapes modelled on two well-known analogue synths, plus two LFOs and an arpeggiator/sequencer. Eleven effects, including distortion, phaser, compressor, vocoder, delay and reverb, fit into six insert slots.

Presets

It comes with 1,250 factory presets, including sounds from BT, Kurt Ader and Luke Neptune. Microtuning scales, custom preset tags and resizable skins round it off.
