McDSP - 6034 Ultimate Multi-band Native

The McDSP 6034 Ultimate Multi-band takes every compressor, expander and gate module from the 6050 Ultimate Channel Strip and drops them into a four-band crossover. It's for engineers who want multi-band dynamics with real character, rather than one clinical compressor algorithm copied across four bands.

Different compressors per band

Each band can run its own module, so you can put a slow opto on the low end, something faster on the mids and a de-essing style setting up top. Modules are auditioned on the fly, and the crossover offers several filter slope options to trade steepness against phase behaviour.

The sound

Because each band uses a modelled compressor rather than a generic one, the 6034 colours as it controls. That makes it great for taming boomy bass guitar, smoothing harsh distorted guitars or tightening a drum bus without killing its punch. On a full mix it's more of a character tool than a transparent mastering multi-band.

Native or HD?

Native runs on your computer in AAX Native, AU and VST3, which is all most studios need. If you mix on Pro Tools HDX or an Avid VENUE S6L, 6034 Ultimate Multi-band HD adds AAX DSP support.
