McDSP - NR800 Noise Reduction Processor Native
Couldn't load pickup availability
The McDSP NR800 is a real-time noise reduction processor with no internal latency, so it works on live sound as well as in the studio and in post. It's for engineers who need to clean up hiss, room tone or bleed as they go, rather than in an offline repair tool.
How it works
High and low pass pre-filters feed eight bands of focusable noise reduction. Modes and a bias control change how the reduction behaves, while Snap Gain and Snap Threshold get you to a good starting point fast. Overall range and response controls set how hard it works.
The sound
Natural at sensible settings, with the band focus letting you leave the parts of the spectrum that don't need treating alone. It's especially good on dialogue and on live vocal mics with stage spill. Push it too hard and you'll hear it, as with any real-time noise reduction.
Native or HD?
Native runs on your computer in AAX Native, AU and VST3, which is all most studios need. If you mix on Pro Tools HDX or an Avid VENUE S6L, NR800 Noise Reduction Processor HD adds AAX DSP support.
