Sugar Bytes - Dialekt

Dialekt is Sugar Bytes' groovebox plugin, for producers who want to sketch complete ideas fast, from beats and basslines to chords and leads, and then finish them in a DAW. It runs on iPhone and iPad as well as desktop, so an idea started on the train can be opened in the studio later.

The sounds

There are eight tracks, each choosing from 27 sound engines. They cover classic synth oscillators, physical-style tones like piano, organ, strings, flute and voice, percussion, naturalistic kicks and a sample slicer (recording into the slicer is standalone only). It's a broad palette for one plugin, enough to build a whole track inside it.

The sequencer

The core idea is Sound per Step: every synth parameter can be stored on each step, so a single track can change tone on every hit. Rolls, trig conditions and per-track tempo and length bring in the polyrhythms and variation you'd expect from hardware grooveboxes. Patterns can be triggered over MIDI, and the song sequencer chains them into longer arrangements with repeats, FX and mutes.

Song Randomizer and effects

The Song Randomizer is the standout. Pick a genre and it generates patterns, sounds, chord progressions, fills and mute and FX sequences, for a single track, a part or a whole song. The Memory page shows everything at a glance, with drag and drop to copy and rotate tracks and parts. Eight touch effects (TapeStop, Filter-Delay, Reverb, Looper, Phaser, Chorus, LowPass and LoFi) can be played live or sequenced.

The sound

Dialekt is about speed and surprise: punchy, characterful grooves that come together in minutes, with randomised starting points that push you away from habits. It's a sketchpad more than a deep sound-design synth, but individual audio and MIDI outs make it easy to move parts into your DAW for finishing. If drums are your focus, DrumComputer goes much deeper on synthesised percussion.
