MasterVerb 7 is an algorithmic reverb for Mac and Windows with Hall and Plate algorithms, separate early reflections and a built-in ducker. It covers small rooms to big halls and dense plates, with smooth tails and no metallic ringing.

Two algorithms, separate early reflections

The late reverb runs on either a Hall algorithm, which scales from rooms to concert halls, or a Plate algorithm for dense, bright plate sounds. Early reflections are a separate section with their own patterns, including halls, chambers, cathedral, nightclub and ping-pong. Each part has its own 3-band EQ, so you can keep a bright early slap with a darker tail, or the other way round.

Clarity and effects

The ducker pulls the reverb down while the dry signal plays and lets it bloom in the gaps, which keeps vocals forward without losing the space. The envelope section does gated and reverse reverb, and delay and envelope times sync to tempo. The 3D frequency response plot shows how the tail decays across the spectrum, which makes it easy to spot a boomy low end.

How it sounds

Clean, smooth and natural rather than coloured. It won't give you the grainy charm of an 80s digital box, but for a reverb that sits well and stays out of the way it's a solid choice, and light on CPU.
