Cherry Audio - P-10

P-10 is Cherry Audio's emulation of Sequential Circuits' Prophet-10 of 1980, essentially two Prophet-5s in one huge dual-manual case, for classic brass, lush pads and poly mod sounds in synthpop, film and electronic music.

The architecture

Each voice has two oscillators modelled on the Curtis CEM3340, with saw, triangle and pulse running together, and the CEM3320 24dB/oct filter, now with a high-pass mode added. Poly Mod, which routes each voice's filter envelope and second oscillator to the first oscillator and filter, is the source of all those metallic, sync-like Prophet sounds, and the oscillator sync is reproduced accurately.

The sound

That Prophet sound: punchy, slightly glassy and instantly recognisable. Two layers of 16 voices can be split, stacked or alternated note by note, as on the original. Cherry adds per-layer drift, arpeggiators, four step sequences of up to 128 steps, aftertouch, two effects chains and SysEx import of original P5 and P10 banks. Over 500 presets, including the original factory patches.
